About IBF
The Intranet Benchmarking Forum (IBF) is an exclusive, confidential intranet and portal benchmarking group of more than 50 leading UK and global organisations.
Formed in 2002, it is the leading intranet benchmarking group globally and is acknowledged to have established the industry standards for intranet and portal performance.
Our mission
The mission of the IBF is to drive forward the performance of member intranets and portals through interaction, measurement and best practice.
Our members
IBF members include AstraZeneca, BBC, BT, the Department for Work and Pensions, HM Revenue and Customs, HSBC, Maersk, Orange, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Unilever and Shell. For a full list, visit the members area of the site.
There are three tiers of IBF membership: IBF Global (Financial Times Global 500 companies), IBF 100 (Financial Times UK 100 companies and equivalent organisations) and IBF Public Sector.
The IBF team
The IBF team has unrivalled expertise in intranet strategy, organisational communication, knowledge management, usability and user experience. We only retain consultants with at least 10 years’ experience in their field.
Our history
The IBF was formed because those running intranets felt isolated in their roles and faced daunting strategic and day to day management challenges. They wanted to be part of a community where they could gauge the effectiveness of their intranets, learn from best practice and swap ideas.
The IBF began as an "intranet club" for intranet managers to meet with those in similar roles and share their experiences. But instead of simply setting up a forum for informal discussion, we developed an intranet audit methodology that could be applied to each member’s site. This meant discussions were based on clear standards and hard facts.
